It's been the same way for me; I decided I didn't want to keep paying people to work on my Z, so I just made sure I had a friend around for moral support and I started doing things on my own. It is pretty rewarding, both psychologically and toward my wallet :) I figured, if I'm going to own one of these for years to come, I at least need to be able to work on it myself, so I'm only paying out the rear on parts and not double on labor as well. Since I don't have much garage space, having good friends with good tools is a nice perk too.
